The
Dubroom reviews a lot of different material, from
musical to educational to beneficial and more.
We've got music, but also material for artists and
producers as well as researchers of more conscious
material. As always, when the Dubroom reviews
something, this means that this website considers
the material at least fair. So don't expect any
negative reviews. When it's here, we recommend it.
Period.

(DUB)
REGGAE MUSIC |
| From
full-length documentaries to video clips,
this is where you can not only enjoy the
sounds of (DUB) Reggae music, but the sights
as well. We are talking about very diverse
material that is not selected persay because
of it's novelty. Historical recordings that stood
against the test of times are offered as
well, TV broadcasts,
interviews: the Dubroom is always interested
in relevant and/or of high quality material
to review and in this part of the Dubroom
video reviews you can find just that.

Smiley
Culture - Cockney Translation (1984)
DUBROOM
VIDEO REVIEW |
| This
one has been a classic ever since it's
original release by the Saxon Sound System
in 1984. Smiley Culture introduces what was
then kind of new: chatting really fast over
digital drum and bass driven riddims.
In Cockney
Translation, he performs an unforgettable
imitation of the Cockney London accent on
the Real Rock riddim and compares it with
the Jamaican language of his own culture.
Smile!

PETER TOSH
@ RANDY'S STUDIO, 1976
DUBROOM
VIDEO REVIEW |
| Here
we have an ultra-rare piece of niceness from
over thirty years ago. It used to be in
color, but the colors turned into black and
white during the decades. Like in a time
machine, we're thrown back to a period that
now seems to be a different planet, without
public Internet and digital video camera's.
Kingston,
Jamaica, 1976. Peter Tosh, who recently
broke up with the Wailers, teams up with Sly
& Robbie and an all-star band in Randy's
Studio at North Parade. After explaining to
the German TV crew how the drum and the bass
are the foundation, it's time for a little
tuning of the instruments and of it goes!

| Even
though he had a large hit with a track
called "Wet Dream" back in the
1960's, Max Romeo is one of the leading
names in the field of conscious Reggae

MERGER -
BIKO (1978)
DUBROOM
VIDEO REVIEW |
| Ever
heard of Merger? They were kind of crucial
back in the late 1970's in the UK. In this
historical footage from UK TV, recorded for
a dancing audience, we're treated to a live
performance of the track Biko by this band.

ISRAEL
VIBRATION - FEELIN IRIE
DUBROOM
VIDEO REVIEW |
| An
up-tempo steppers riddim celebrating the
niceness of Reggae Music, while the three
original members of Israel Vibration sing
about the feeling that comes when the
vibe is right!
The video
is full with people singing, dancing and
partying in the streets of the ghetto. A
statement in itself...
