"Godly Goods": On the Christian Industrial Complex
A CRC REPRINT |
NOVEMBER
10, 1997: What's the hottest retail
logo in America right now? Reebok? Tommy
Hilfiger? Polo? Nope, it's the acronym WWJD,
slapped on everything from wristbands to
T-shirts to refrigerator magnets. According
to the Dallas Morning News, the logo WWJD,
representing the provocative question
"What Would Jesus Do?" and meant
to remind Christians to think about their
actions, is now borne on millions of gifts
and apparel items nationwide. The national
retail chain Family Christian Stores,
reports selling 225,000 of the WWJD
wristbands in the last nine months alone.
Here in Knoxville, the WWJD line of
merchandise can be purchased, among other
places, at Cedar Springs Christian Store,
located on North Peters Road. But that's not
all you will find at Cedar Springs. An
afternoon's shopping inside this lavishly
appointed 20,000 square foot
Christian-lifestyle superstore and
coffeehouse could send you home with
everything from a video rental of
Radicals—The Unbelievable Story of the
Anabaptists to a child's plastic suit of
armor with the word
"Righteousness" boldly emblazoned
across the chest, packaged as a
"Christian Character Building
Costume."

a Fundamental Baptist position, the CCM

Bible says so. David Cloud is one of the
strongest voices from within this Christian
movement as he voices his strong opposition
to the CCM Industry from a Rootical
Christian Perspective.

Promoting Rush
Limbaugh, dissing Rasta: 'Holy'? (by Messian
Dread)
A CRC REPORT |
Today,
I came across a very interesting person on
the "Lion of Zion" message boards.
Christafari endorses this person, as we will
see later.
This person calls himself "Holy
Man", and he's pretty vocal about
certain people who he would call
"unholy". He likes to promote
alcohol-free beer while posting adverts that
say "Drink Guiness, it is not a
sin" and while he pretty much places an
anathema on every Rasta using a definition
which is not in accordance with reality, He
considers Rush Limbaugh to be his friend.

COMPETITION OF THE
MINISTERS
A CRC REPORT |
In
the Christian Industry, Christianity is
transformed into a product which must be
bought or sold.
Still, the industrialists refuse to admit
this and claim that they are
"ministers". They demand, that
they are acknowledged as workers in the
Christian Church.
But what kind of Christianity appears
when they are acknowledged as such?

THE SPIN ON CCM
AWARDS
A CRC REPORT |
WWW,
September 27, 2006 - Recently, Christian
artist JAH Pickney posted
a news item on the Dubroom Messageboards,
wherein he announced how he was nominated
for the "Marlin
Awards". These awards are given to
major players in the "Reggae"
branch of the Christian Industry, also
called "Caribbean Gospel" or
"Gospel Reggae".
The posting obviously turned into a very
interesting discussion about the idea of
having such "Gospel Music Awards".
Are these awards a proof of the fact that
the Christian Industry is just that, an
industry, or can bilical justifications be
given to such ceremonies?
A report.
