| Israel
Vibration was originally formed in the late
1970's as a vocal trio. Unfortunately, the
group split up but was reformed in the late
1980's. About a decade later, they split
again: two went on under the name Israel
Vibration while Apple Gabriel pursued a solo
career.
In this video, you will see Wiss and
Skelly, accompanied by two female singers
replacing Apple.
After a short introduction in German (the
video was originally aired on a German
public broadcasting channel), the concert
starts. No massive intro's, for this is a
performance on a festival.
The video doesn't only contain the
concert, though, and that is nice. For the
people who can understand German, that is.
Germans don't like subtitles and so the
interviews with the members are dubbed over
in German.
The vibes are asked why they think Reggae
is so popular. The answer is, that Reggae is
a music for a conscious people. They're
asked if the miss Jamaica cause they live in
America for such a long time now, and the
answer is that inspiration can be found
everywhere.
The second track (Jailhouse Rocking) is
played in extended style. The band takes
over, playing a dubby style, then turning
the track into a Ragga riddim, using guitar
solo's.
The rest of the concert is nice and easy.
Although Israel Vibration will clearly never
be the same without all three of the
original members present, this performance
is still well worth a look.
