| The
Road To Guantanamo (2006) |
"The
Road To Guantanamo" is a very
impressive dramatized documentary of the
story of three young men who end up in
Guantanamo where they spend years under the
most terrible circumstances.
A true story of what likely is not even the
worst story from what really happens in that
camp. The road to Guantanamo is also very
important.
A young man goes to Pakistan to get married.
His two friends join him. But they end up in
Aghanistan, where they hang around watching
the bombings and the dead bodies in a truly
chaotic situation where nothing is clear.
They jump on a truck, in the idea that
they're heading back to Pakistan but they
end in captivity. Arrested by the
"Northern Alliance", British and
Unites States soldiers pick out every
english speaking person among the prisoners
and start to interogate them.
It's clear, that there is really no idea
about Al Qaida. Not with the three friends,
but also not with the western soldiers. So
in need for terrorists they simply start
blaming people.
Humiliations, abuse, torture: everything is
shown rather detailed in the movie.
Reconstructed scenes are combined with
authentic material and interviews with the
three friends. You really start to feel what
they have been going through. You really
start to realize that the so-called
"war on terror" basically means: a
war of terror.
Probably because of the publicity, the three
friends are finally released and flown back
to the UK. But they have never been
officially charged or discharged from any
alleged membership of this mysterious
"Al Qaida" group.
A movie which can be recommended to everyone
who is interested in what is really going on
there at Guantanamo, and also the road to
that terrible camp. A movie which will wake
people up to the true nature of this
"war on terror".
