Berrett is beter known as Tony Rebel. A
Rebel With A Cause, you could say.
In the early 1990's, he re-introduced
Consciousness to the Dance with some
powerfull vocal works over some powerful
riddims. Others were soon to join the Good
Fight as they preluded what was to become
known as the "Rasta Rennaisance"
of the 1990's.
Vocal works are only a part of Tony
Rebel's gifts, skills and talents.
"Rebel Salute", for example: a
Jamaican Reggae Festicval where the line up
of artists can best be described as
Stricktly Roots and Culture.
In 1996, Tony Rebel had just formed his
own label Flames. Still fighting the Good
Fight, one of his first achievements with
the label was to score a massive hit with
the title track of his album "If
Jah".
A well deserved hit, and not just because
it's a massive track!
"If JAH" really is an anthem
for Jah Warriors fighting the Good Fight,
and it's succes shows how you can't seperate
JAH from Reggae Culture.
Here is an -obviously unofficial- video
with the track, showing some photographs of
the Rebel
Special Request to all JAH
Warriors!
