DIFFERENT KIND OF EDITORS
Since there are different reasons why you would
want to post, there are also different ways of
getting it done at the Dubroom Message Boards.
Basically, there are three different editors which
you can use, and they all have their special
advantage.
Probably the biggest reason to post is, to reply
to something which is already posted on the
Message Boards. A simple "Quick Reply"
at the bottom of each thread will serve that
purpose just well. This editor enables you to
write a reply, while you have the possibility to
use BB Code. You could say, this is similar to the
editor at the previous Dubroom Message Boards.
But you also might want to forward a news item or
start a discussion. Or you want to post a
promotion of your musical works, you might even
want to have more control over your posting when
you reply to something whis is already posted. For
this, there are two different editors, the BBCODE
Editor and the WYSIWYG Editor.
As said, the Quick Reply form is at the bottom of
each topic. The other two editors can be used by
pressig "Reply" while reading a topic,
or pressing "New Topic" while browsing a
forum or reading a thread.
CHOOSING YOUR EDITOR
When you press "Reply" or "New
Topic", your preferred Editor will show up.
You can set your preferred Editor in your
account under the option "preferences"
in the Settings box. You can choose to use the
Quick Reply editor all the time, or use the BBCODE
or WYSIWYG Editor.
Basically, there is no reason to choose the BBCODE
Editor over the other two. It will give you the
same possibilities as the WYSIWYG Editor while you
can edit BB Code in all editors. Especially when
you don't know what BB Code is anyway, you won't
need to choose for it. Maybe when you want to have
a little memory to the old Dubroom Message Boards,
in that case, the BB Editor will give you some
nostalgic feelings.
THE WYSIWYG EDITOR
Originally, your account is set to have the
WYSIWYG Editor as the standard editor. WYSIWYG is
an ancient term from the times when you had to be
a professor to do anything behind the computer,
and it stands for What You
See Is What
You Get.
The WYSIWYG Editor at the Dubroom Message Boards
is pretty powerful. Especially when you compare it
to the previous version of the Boards, you will
notice the many improvements. The editor enables
you to have near complete control over the look
and feel of your posting without having to know
all these complicated codes. When you do know
about these codes, the editor will give you even
more possibilities.
Sometimes, especially in the Babylon
Observer and CRC
Message Boards, you will want to forward a news
item from a different site. Go to the appropriate
board and press "New Topic". The editor
will show up. Highlight the part you want to copy
on the other site and simply drag it to the
editor. You will see that everything will more or
less pop up. Press "Post" (or
"Preview" when you wanna see it first
for yourself), and your message is posted.
In most cases, you will want to write your own
posting but you want to have control over the way
it's gonna look. You might want to add a YouTube
video (or Google Video etc) to your posting, and
all that can be done in the WYSIWYG Editor too.
Let's take a look at the dashboard (or whatever
it's called) above the form where you type your
message in.

A: This will enable you to change
the color of the selected font (letter type)
Tt: This will make your selected
fonts larger or smaller (nice for titles etc)
F: This will enable you to change
the type of letter (and it will give you examples
too!) of the selected font
ab: This will enable you to change
the background colour of the selected font
B: This will make your selected
text bold (or press CTRL-B)
I: This will make your selected text Italic
(or press CTRL-I)
U: This will make your selected text Underscored
T: This will make your text like this
You can also make your selected text
adjust to the left, to the right, or to the
middle. It's also possible to make the selected
text move a bit to the right, for example when
you're quoting a Bible scripture or something
else. The Quotation Marks will even do that for
you automatically.
Tx: This will remove all the formatiing you did on
the selected text. (or press CTRL-SHIFT-Z)
When you want to make a list with
either numbers or dots to show the different
points in that list, there is ways to do that to.
Just look right to the Tx button.
You can add or remove a link
easily, too. Just press the Chain button and type
in the link (or press CTRL-V after you've copied
the URL with CTRL-C). Removing a link goes by
breaking the chain.
You can add an image from your
account or from the Internet, or from Photobucket.
You can add smileys.
You can Undo/Redo what you just
did
You can add a video from sites
like Youtube easily, too.
Additionally, you can press the
HTML button to have complete control over your
posting. Als when you want to add let's say a
Youtube video, you can use the embed code that the
site gives in the HTML mode of the WYSIWYG Editor.
Lastly, a SpellCheck will help you
to find spilling mistake. Take care, though, when
you have links in your posting and these links
contain spelling mistakes. When you have
additional questions, please reply to this thread.
